6 Tips for your Smart Garden
Summer season is here. So now it‘s time to make your garden smart. With this blogpost we would like to give you some input on what and how things in your garden can be done smarter.
1. The weather forecast
Nowadays we can easily check the weather forecast on our smartphones, but what if you put your smartphone away in order to enjoy time with your family and friends? To make sure you do not miss a change of weather, a thunderstorm or a downpour lets be notified via intelligent lighting. Let your Smart Home Hub, e.g. from Aeotec or Homey, trigger some LED bulbs to inform you of upcoming rain. A tutorial for this scenario can be found on www.zwave.eu.
2. POPP Z-Weather - the intelligent weather station
POPPs solar powered energy-self-sufficient weather station is monitoring and providing measuring data as follows:
- Wind speed
- Air temperature
- Relative humidity
- Light intensity
- Air pressure
- Dew point
In combination with your smart home hub and flush-mounted radio moduls you can use the wind- and weather sensor to control your sunblinds and shutters. The integrated light intensity sensor additionally allows to switch on and off your outdoor lights automatically. In dry periods you can use the weather station to switch on your lawn sprinkler.
Starting your lawn sprinkler automatically via time control is smart, but what if you can add the daily rainfall amount to this scenario?
Once the POPP Z-Rain is placed in your garden it will send you push messages when rain is detected. It is also able to measures the exact precipitation amount.
4. Smart Outdoor Plugs
In combination with your Smart Home Hub the POPP IP 44 Smart Outdoor Plug can automatically switch on and off your lights or other outdoor devices time controlled. Next to that you can control the smart plugs via a remote control, smartphone/tablet or voice control. Forgotten outdoor lights can be switched off easily from indoors.
5. Smart speakers for more entertainment
The small digital radio is in the bathroom, the hi-fi system in the living room, and in the garden? That’s where Smart Bluetooth speakers provide entertainment.
Lazing in the sun and listening to your favorite audio book? Sounds good, right? With a simple voice command (“Ok, Google”), your smart box plays music, podcasts or your favorite radio stations.
6. Making everything work: Smart Home Gateways
To manage the mentioned scenarios and even a lot of other scenes and automations we recommend the Aeotec Smart Home Hub to you. The Hub comes up with Z-Wave, Zigbee and Wifi and allows you to use a wide portfolio of e.g. lighting products and sensors.
